Vehicles account for 15% of global emissions, and many cars and trucks on the road today, even newer ones, are non-compliant. D-Link offers solutions that can leverage video surveillance infrastructure already in place, or new infrastructure. Automated Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) technology can utilize video feeds from roadside cameras. If a tailpipe is observed producing black smoke, an automated alert can be raised, with that vehicle’s license plate identified – it’s that simple.

District-level Compliance

The temptation can be great for an individual district within a jurisdiction to be lax in its enforcement of emissions regulations. But D-Link has the analytics solutions needed to help stimulate compliance. Data from ambient environmental sensors can be analyzed in the context of other relevant information, such as wind patterns, to determine which districts are the sources of emissions.

For instance, if administrators at a national park repeatedly observe high emission levels within the park during weekends and holidays from visiting cars, they might decide to eliminate parking onsite and institute an electric shuttle bus service for bringing visitors into the park.
